In far too many cases, hounds come into TSBHR because they have been abused, neglected or abandoned. We feel badly because of what the hound has suffered and we work to regain the trust of the hound. Tillie's story is different. Tillie spent most of her life as a spoiled only dog, with custom bedding and embroidered pillows, bags full of squeaky toys, and all the treats she wanted. She was taken to the vet often and a well cared for dog. However, that's what makes Tillie's story so heartbreaking. After being loved and spoiled for so long, Tillie's mom could no longer take care of her. It must have been very hard to let Tillie go after experiencing her sweet nature. This was a decision made due to her great love for Tillie and her desire to do what is best for her.
Tillie arrived in November 2017. Her foster family says, "Tillie has made herself at home and now acts as if she has always been here. She has relinquished her fancy dog bed in favor of a low leather chair that is easy for her to climb into (she has weakness in her back legs). She is very understanding when the other dogs steal her squeaky toys. Tillie knows that she will get them back eventually. She plays, cuddles, follows us from room to room, and when it snows, we can't get her to come inside the house! She has endeared herself to us with her funny antics, soulful eyes, and super soft ears."
Tillie is now 15 years old and holds the current title of Tri-State's the oldest foster dog.
