FOSTERING: Fostering homeless hounds is one of the most important volunteering activities. Most foster assignments include dogs that we have little information or background on and we need Basset savvy homes to house, care for and assess the dog so we can properly match him with the right family, where he'll stay the rest of his life - happy and loved. If you think you may be interested in fostering, click here to go to our
" Fostering" page, which includes a link to an online Foster Application.

TRANSPORTING: Since Tri-State covers such a large area, our need for transport help is ongoing. Most of the time, transport help includes meeting someone to get a dog and transporting him to another volunteer, or perhaps to a kennel or vet appointment. If the transport is for an adoption or vet appointment, we are usually able to set it up a few days in advance. However, many times our transport volunteers are called upon to do a
transport with very little notice, sometimes less than 24 hours, in instances when a dog must be moved quickly, such as the dogs in shelters. If you're interested in volunteering for transports, please email volunteer@tristatebassets.org with your contact information and availabiltiy, including times when you can transport during the week.

HOME VISITS: We can never have enough volunteers to do home visits. Pre-adoption home inspectors are needed throughout our coverage area so we will always have somebody close by a potential adopter. Even if you live near one of our regular volunteers, they can't always be available to do a home visit when needed. Having many volunteers ensures that no single person is overburdened. If called upon to do a home visit, you will be given a home inspection form that will lead you through the process and help you provide all the information that we need to know about the home. If you would like to help with our pre-adoption home inspections, contact our Home Visit Coordinator, Kathy Riker, at 856-234-1271 or you can email her at kathy@tristatebassets.org.

FUND-RAISING ACTIVITIES: Fund-raising is what allows Tri-State to provide the necessary care and medical attention that the homeless Bassets need, and hard working volunteers are the reason that these activities are successful.

The BoardWaddle: Our biggest fund-raiser of the year is also the one that requires the largest number of volunteers.

Picnics: The picnics, parties and gatherings we host during the course of the year require a coordinated effort of many volunteers. These "jobs" include:

* Raffle Coordinators
* Setting-up before events
* Cleaning up after events
* Helping with the Basset Games and Contests
* Helping at the Bake Sale
* Grilling Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, Veggie Dogs & Veggie Burgers
* Registration/Info Table help
* Helping at the Sales Table
* Printing of Picnic Flyers
* Mailing of Picnic Flyers
* Photography at events

If you would like to help with any of the yearly picnics, parties or gatherings contact our Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer@tristatebassets.org.
