Grand Marshall
Woodward Sack

Woodward Sack has graciously accepted this
year of service and will serve as Board Waddle Grand Marshall 2006.

The pawsition has vast duties, such as being crowned at the Basset Olympics on Friday afternoon, greeting the public for hours on end, wearing whatever Auntie Dawn of the West
dreams up for riding in the pawrade. One must
also maintain order among the throngs of admirers and pose for pictures. That is before all the supermarket openings and day care center appearances. In the case of Woodward, it also involves compelling his slave to drive him from North Carolina to the BoardWaddle. He is coming with his own driver and convertible along with his very own entourage!!! Relatives from different states...multiple cars! Woodward views this as a grand event

Mr. Sack is a formerly homeless Tri-State
houndie. He was surrendered to a shelter in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania by people
who besmirched his name with unfounded accusations of snapping at the kids. (Same people who bought him as a howliday gift. Bad plan.) Tri-State saved him from the shelter. Then known as Woody,

Mr. Sack spent a brief time in a
kennel utilized by Tri-State before being adopted by Alan & Kathy Sack on April 7, 2001.

Image of Grand Marshall Woodward Looking Up at the Camera Deciding that he was a more formal kind of guy, "Woody" became Woodward and turned on the  'Look'. He commanded that his person use her best efforts in raising moolah for the BoardWaddlin hounds..and getting him a social life. His 2002 debut in the BoardWaddle Pledge Contest was in the top 20...he followed that with a climb to 4th in 2003 and honed his skills to a new level in 2004 as the winner of the pledge contest. Grand Marshall '05 Scooter Pie had set the bar, winning in 2003 and returning with even more pledges in 2004...but Woodward was a determined guy and won with an amazing $2,500. In 2005, Woodward's people moved to North Carolina and he was unable to attend.but still finished third, sending his pledges of $2,000! (With double that sent in post waddle!) Woodward has also proven very enterprising in obtaining good stuff for the prize baskets enjoyed by the pledge winners...many a houndies or human has received baskets with his well begged contributions. In gratitude and in recognition of his efforts in serving his homeless houndren, Woodward was the paws up guy to be Grand Marshall 06.

Image of Grand Marshall Woodward Lying On His BackHis pawson repawts that Woodward has now become a "Southern Bassett" - sleeping most of the day, getting walks through the neighborhood (and if lucky, a few head pats) and enjoying his screened in porch to "see what is goin' on".

His favorite thing is to help his dad cut roses.  He likes tummy rubs and to be scratched behind
the ear (that "gets that leg thing going").
He has found a formerly homeless bagel girlfriend named, Scarlett. Overall, he is a very happy Basset! Woodward will be headed North to lead the parade
